Senior Manager ~ Director, Legal (Global Healthcare Company) (#1598)

In-house legal opportunity at a global healthcare company in Tokyo, at Senior Manager or Director level depending on experience. The role provides practical, business-focused legal support in a multinational, cross-border environment.

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial and transaction documents in Japanese and English
• Director level: lead complex and strategic transactions, including business development and licensing
• Senior Manager level: handle routine commercial contracts and more complex matters under limited supervision
• Give clear, practical legal advice to the business and propose workable solutions, not only identify risk
• Work with global and regional stakeholders on substantive legal matters
• Manage disputes, investigations and other higher-risk matters (Director), with escalation where appropriate
• Contribute to team capability building, process improvement and technology adoption

Full-time, Tokyo-based. Base salary, bonus and (Director) equity.

• License to practice law in Japan or an equivalent legal qualification
• Director: minimum 10 years post-qualification experience, including extensive business law firm experience; Senior Manager: at least 5 years, including business law firm experience
• In-house experience in a multinational company or the healthcare industry
• Proven ability to draft, review and negotiate commercial and transaction documents in both Japanese and English (complex, independent for Director)
• Experience working with global or regional stakeholders in a multinational, cross-border environment
• Strong legal judgment, structured thinking and consultative business partnering skills
• Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and lead legal workstreams without formal authority
• Business-level fluency in Japanese and English
