Innovation Protection Manager (Global Pharmaceutical Company) (#1590)

A senior people-management role within the intellectual property department of a global pharmaceutical company that develops its own medicines worldwide.

• Shape and carry out patent strategy for assigned products, from the early research stage through to the post-launch period
• Take part in inventions, filings, examination responses and disputes, while guiding junior patent staff
• Provide the IP perspective in partnering, licensing and alliance negotiations
• Build agreement with research, development and business teams so that IP supports business decisions
• Coach and evaluate team members and help strengthen the department

Full-time, Tokyo-based, flexible working hours, managerial position.

• 10+ years of patent experience inside a pharmaceutical company's IP department
• Proven record of developing, coaching and evaluating direct reports
• Strong consensus-building and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Native-level Japanese; working English for reading and writing
• Preferred: pharmacy or life-science degree, patent attorney qualification
