Role: Health Economics Market Access Senior Manager, Japan – Senior Manager

What you'll do

• Establish the new HEMA function in Japan and serve as its organisational lead, with final accountability for market access in Japan.
• Develop the mid- to long-term market access strategy and build internal processes, governance and capabilities.
• Lead insurance reimbursement strategy for new and existing products, including new product listing applications and price management.
• Lead interactions with MHLW, manage diagnostic billing (medical fee) classification changes, and lead impact analysis for fee schedule revisions.
• Develop health economic and evidence strategies; oversee cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses and RWE initiatives aligned with global HEMA strategy.
• Build relationships with academic societies, KOLs and industry groups, and participate in industry forums on healthcare economics and policy.
• Work closely with commercial, marketing, medical, regulatory, clinical and finance teams, and educate internal stakeholders on Japan's medical device insurance system.
• Design the team organisation, develop talent, and manage external vendors and consultants.

Must-haves

• A bachelor's degree in medicine, pharmacy, public health, health economics or sciences.
• Approx. 7+ years in the medical device, pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
• Demonstrated market access / insurance experience in Japan, including leading regulatory interactions and insurance application projects.
• Business-level Japanese and English (oral and written), and the ability to prepare government documents.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high autonomy and cross-functional leadership.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice-to-haves

• A Master's degree, MBA or PhD.
• Organisation or function management experience.

Salary: approx. 1,250万円 base + 22% target bonus (approx. 1,525万円 total)
