Role: HR Employee Relations & Operations Specialist – Pharmaceutical (Japan)

What you'll do

• Support the planning and delivery of HR initiatives aligned with the HR strategy, helping build a culture of performance and growth.
• Support the local implementation of global HR initiatives, and prepare communications and materials.
• Administer labour agreements, work rules and HR policies; research legislative changes and social trends; draft policy documents and internal communications.
• Respond to escalated HR inquiries from employees and managers.
• Drive HR operational improvements with shared services, payroll and benefits teams, and monitor external service providers.
• Manage working-time administration and paid leave operations; prepare training materials and coordinate meetings.
• Participate in cross-functional and global HR projects, supporting progress tracking and stakeholder communication (PMO support).
• Use AI and digital tools to improve efficiency and project information management.

Must-haves

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and capabilities.
• Practical work experience in a corporate, government or consulting environment.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders under supervisory guidance.
• Native-level Japanese and business-level English (meetings with overseas stakeholders, independent emails and documents, presentations when required; approx. TOEIC 800+).
• Ability to learn and apply new digital tools, and motivation to build an HR career.

Nice-to-haves

• Approx. 3 years of HR experience in a global or multinational environment.
• Experience working with overseas offices, global teams, external vendors or shared service organisations.
• Experience with generative AI, Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate or other digital tools.
• HR-related certifications (e.g. Social Insurance and Labour Consultant, Health Officer, career counsellor), or legal, compliance or business automation qualifications.
• Knowledge of Japanese labour law, labour agreements and work rules.

Salary: approx. 1,100 ~ 1,300万円
