Position Title: International Project Manager
Position Overview
- Lead a portfolio of complex, cross-border transformation initiatives, coordinating multiple workstreams to achieve defined business outcomes.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within approved budgets, and in line with established quality standards.
- Oversee project lifecycle activities including planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and post-project evaluation.
- Promote consistent use of structured project management methodologies and continuous improvement practices across the organization.
- Partner closely with regional and global stakeholders while supporting enterprise-wide transformation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the end-to-end management of international projects, from initiation through closure, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans that define scope, deliverables, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, milestones, governance structures, and roles.
- Establish transparent communication channels to ensure stakeholders remain informed of progress, risks, and key developments.
- Monitor performance metrics and milestones to confirm delivery quality and schedule adherence.
- Identify potential risks and operational challenges, develop mitigation strategies, and implement contingency plans as needed.
- Facilitate regular project status meetings and prepare updates for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Support organizational review processes by coordinating materials and presentations for leadership-level meetings.
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, and operational standards.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that promotes accountability, engagement, and effective communication.
- Capture lessons learned and implement best practices to strengthen overall project management capabilities.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to project team members to support skill development and performance improvement.
- Contribute to the development of a high-performing project management and transformation function.
- Support organizational growth initiatives and help formalize processes within a developing operational environment.
- Identify operational gaps and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and commitment to quality standards in all project activities.
- Operate effectively in dynamic environments with evolving priorities and ambiguity.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline; alternatively, equivalent vocational training in project management combined with significant relevant experience.
- Advanced proficiency in English (professional working level).
- Advanced proficiency in Japanese (business fluent to native level).
- Minimum of five years of experience managing projects in international or multi-regional environments.
- Demonstrated experience applying structured project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-country initiatives involving diverse stakeholders.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency with standard project management tools and productivity software suites.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cultures and adapt to diverse working environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in project management methodologies such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
- Experience leading enterprise-level transformation or large-scale operational initiatives.
- Background in consulting environments or internal advisory functions.
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategic concepts into structured project plans and measurable outcomes.
- Experience supporting technically oriented or science-driven environments is advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical and executive-level materials.
- Additional language capabilities, particularly European languages, are considered beneficial.
